**He came to argue over a campaign ...sign. He left in HANDCUFFS!**

What should have been a routine discussion about a political campaign sign in a public park turned into a lengthy confrontation between Elizabeth, New Jersey, police officers and longtime Democratic political operative **Justin Shoham**.

And the entire encounter was captured on POLICE BODYCAM!

On June 2, 2026, Elizabeth police responded to Woodruff Circle Park after receiving reports of political campaign signs displayed on public park property.

Officers discovered a large **5-by-4-foot campaign sign** promoting Jose Rodriguez, a candidate for Elizabeth City Council.

Police explained that Elizabeth's municipal ordinance prohibited displaying advertising materials inside city parks.

But they also offered an alternative.

Campaign workers could carry the sign along public sidewalks without obstructing pedestrian traffic.

Simple enough, right?

**NOT FOR JUSTIN SHOHAM.**

Shoham, who was working with the Rodriguez campaign, arrived on an electric scooter and immediately challenged the officers' interpretation of the ordinance.

He argued that displaying the campaign sign was protected by the First Amendment.

What followed was an extended debate over political expression, municipal regulations, police authority and the limits of public-space restrictions.

Shoham questioned the officers, recorded their interactions and repeatedly challenged their instructions.

At times, the encounter became openly confrontational.

But the officers continued explaining what they believed the ordinance permitted and prohibited.

**THEN THE SITUATION ESCALATED.**

After a lengthy exchange, the dispute returned to whether Shoham could place the sign on park property.

Lieutenant Jose Escaleira approached as Shoham attempted to reposition the sign.

According to the police report, Shoham swung the sign, allegedly struck the lieutenant in the chest with his elbow and then fled when officers attempted to arrest him.

Shoham has disputed the allegation that he assaulted an officer.

The bodycam footage captures the physical confrontation and the officers' efforts to take Shoham into custody.

The alcohol? A ...friend gave it to her.

Then it came from a gas station.

**Always check your bank alerts—because sometimes the call ...is coming from INSIDE THE HOTEL.**

A traveler noticed unauthorized charges appearing on her Capital One card after checking out of a hotel.

But investigators didn't have to chase an anonymous hacker across the internet.

One suspicious **Domino's Pizza order** reportedly led them straight back to the hotel where she had recently stayed.

The victim, **Samantha Warner**, had stayed at the Red Lion Hotel in Ellensburg, Washington.

A few days later, strange transactions began appearing.

First came a pending **$27.75 charge at the Majestic Theater in Yakima**.

Then another transaction appeared—an active **$44.76 Domino's Pizza order in Ellensburg**.

Warner didn't ignore the alerts.

**She started investigating.**

She called Domino's directly and asked about the order.

That's when the case took an incredible turn.

According to the case information, the employee confirmed that the pizza was being delivered to the **RED LION HOTEL**.

Even more interesting?

The order was reportedly placed under the first name:

**ALEXIS.**

Warner immediately remembered that the front-desk employee working during her hotel stay had the same first name.

Police were contacted.

Ellensburg Police Sergeant Potter went to Domino's to investigate, and records reportedly showed the online order had been placed under the name **Alexis King**.

Now investigators had a name.

And things were about to get worse.

A records check reportedly revealed that King had an outstanding misdemeanor bench warrant involving a suspended license.

Investigators also learned about another recent complaint involving a Red Lion guest whose credit card information had allegedly been used for approximately **$300 in unauthorized purchases** at businesses including Walmart and KFC.

Then came the bodycam footage.

Officers walked directly into the Red Lion Hotel and arrested **24-year-old Alexis King in the middle of her shift**.

But the interrogation may be the most fascinating part of the entire case.

King initially attempted to explain the transactions as some type of technology mistake.

According to her explanation, her phone had essentially **“autofilled”** stored credit card information.

There was an obvious question:

Investigators began pressing her on how information such as the card number, expiration date and security code could supposedly appear without being manually entered.

The “autofill” explanation didn't last.

King eventually admitted the transactions weren't accidental and acknowledged using the card information, according to the case.

Among the purchases were reportedly **three movie tickets to Zootopia 2**.

During questioning, King also discussed her financial situation.

She described herself as a single mother earning approximately **$17 an hour** and claimed scheduling problems with a former manager had reduced her to roughly two shifts per week.

But financial hardship didn't answer the biggest question:

**HOW DID SHE GET ACCESS TO THE CARD INFORMATION?**

That's where this case raises an even larger concern about hotel data security.

According to incident-report information, King described a practice in which employees could allegedly enter guests' complete, unmasked credit card credentials into an open **“comments” field** within the hotel's reservation system as a way of getting around normal masking protections.

What began as a dispute between children at an Arizona park escalated into something almost unimaginable when an angry mother got behind the wheel of her pickup truck.

By the time it was over, a **12-YEAR-OLD GIRL had been run over**, police were investigating an attempted murder allegation, and multiple cameras had captured critical pieces of what happened.

Thirty-year-old **Brandie Gotch** arrived at a park in Peoria, Arizona, to pick up her children after school.

According to the case, tensions already existed between her children and other neighborhood kids, with Gotch claiming her children had been dealing with bullying.

But instead of removing her children from the situation and leaving, the confrontation escalated.

Gotch confronted the kids herself.

She reportedly grabbed one boy by his hair and forced him toward the ground before grabbing a broken stick and chasing another child who had been heckling her.

But things were about to get MUCH worse.

Gotch eventually put her children into her pickup truck.

She claimed one of the boys then stood behind her vehicle, dancing and mocking her.

Witnesses, however, described an increasingly disturbing situation and reported hearing threats about running the children over.

Then Gotch hit the accelerator.

Her pickup went over the curb and onto the park grounds, where numerous children were gathered.

The boy she was allegedly pursuing managed to get out of the truck's path.

His **12-year-old sister wasn't as fortunate.**

She was struck and run over by the pickup truck, suffering a broken leg.

Instead of remaining at the park, Gotch drove away and returned home.

Police soon caught up with her.

**SHE WAS GOING TO JAIL.**

But her behavior after being taken into custody added another bizarre dimension to the case.

During the booking process, Gotch could be seen laughing, joking and engaging in casual conversation. At various points she reportedly talked about ordinary subjects such as shopping for shoes and cleaning out her closet.

Considering the seriousness of what had just occurred, her demeanor was striking.

Then came the interrogation.

Gotch attempted to explain what happened by saying she panicked and lost traction.

There was one enormous problem with that explanation:

**CAMERAS.**

Investigators had access to multiple sources of video evidence, including home-security footage, school cameras and cellphone video.

That footage became critical evidence in determining what actually happened as the pickup crossed onto the park grounds.

What might have otherwise become competing accounts of a chaotic confrontation now had video evidence investigators could examine frame by frame.

Gotch was originally booked on serious charges that included **first-degree attempted murder**, along with multiple allegations of aggravated assault and endangerment.

The case ultimately ended differently.

Gotch pleaded guilty to **three counts of aggravated assault** and was sentenced to **10 YEARS in Arizona state prison**.

What makes this case so disturbing is how quickly an argument involving children escalated once an adult became involved.

He walked into the interrogation room believing he was the smartest person there.

Calm.

Polite.

Philosophical.

And nearly **300 miles away from ...the crime scene**.

Twenty-year-old **Thane Ormsby** appeared convinced that he had covered his tracks and could simply talk his way through whatever questions Maine State Police put in front of him.

What he didn't understand was that the detective wasn't trying to OUTTALK him.

**He was letting Ormsby build his own trap.**

The rural community of Amity, Maine, had been devastated by the killings of **55-year-old Jeffrey Ryan, his 10-year-old son Jesse Ryan, and 30-year-old family friend Jason DeHaan**.

Ryan's vehicle was stolen and later burned miles away.

Evidence had been destroyed.

And Ormsby eventually made his way out of Maine to Dover, New Hampshire.

An elderly acquaintance, **Robert “Bob” Strout**, would later face consequences for helping Ormsby destroy evidence and leave the state.

But when investigators finally sat across from Ormsby, they didn't immediately reveal everything they knew.

Instead, the detective did something brilliant:

**He let Ormsby TALK.**

Ormsby presented himself as an intelligent, thoughtful young man simply trying to help investigators.

He quoted J.R.R. Tolkien.

He talked philosophically about people's “reasons.”

He made strange observations about how even computers have “delete keys.”

And while discussing the killer, he seemingly separated himself from the crime by describing the perpetrator in the third person.

Meanwhile, the detective remained remarkably calm.

No screaming.

No pounding the table.

Instead, he appeared almost confused at times—as though he simply needed Ormsby's help clearing up a few minor inconsistencies.

And Ormsby took the bait.

He talked.

He drew diagrams.

Most importantly, **he committed himself to a timeline**.

Ormsby insisted he hadn't been inside the victims' home since a previous visit weeks earlier.

He also claimed he had never even met Jason DeHaan.

The detective allowed him to keep building that story.

Then came **three bottles**.

Investigators had recovered three partially consumed beverage bottles from inside the house.

According to the case, family members had thoroughly cleaned the home shortly before the killings, making the timing of those bottles extremely important.

Two were associated with the victims.

**The third contained Ormsby's fresh fingerprints and DNA.**

Suddenly, this wasn't a philosophical conversation anymore.

The physical evidence placed Ormsby somewhere he had repeatedly insisted he hadn't been.

Even worse, it connected him to a setting involving a person he claimed he had never met.

Everything Ormsby had carefully constructed during the interrogation now worked AGAINST him.

And the detective didn't need to scream.

He didn't need to threaten him.

He simply revealed the evidence.
